Dental Care Without the Dread
Maybe it’s the needles, the sounds, the feeling of being stuck in the chair, or a rough experience from the past. Whatever the cause, fear can lead people to put off care until a small problem becomes a painful one. We’d rather help you feel at ease from the start.
Depending on your needs, sedation can range from light relaxation to a much deeper state of calm. We’ll talk through the options with you so you can choose what feels right. Manor patients who’ve been avoiding the dentist are welcome to come in for a conversation first.

Sedation Dentistry FAQs for Manor Patients
Can I be put to sleep for dental work?

It depends on the type of sedation. Oral conscious sedation relaxes you but doesn’t put you to sleep. Deeper options, such as IV sedation, can make you drowsy or let you sleep through treatment. During your consultation, we’ll talk about which approach suits your health and the procedure you need.
Will I feel pain while sedated?

No. Sedation eases anxiety, and for any treatment that might cause discomfort, we also use local anesthetic to numb the area completely. Many patients have little or no memory of the visit afterward.
How long does sedation take to wear off?

That depends on the method. The effects of oral sedation typically fade within a few hours, and deeper sedation can take longer. Plan to take it easy for the rest of the day, no matter which type you receive.
Am I a good candidate for sedation?

You might be if you feel anxious, fear needles, gag easily, have trouble getting numb, or need extensive work done at once. We’ll review your medical history and medications first to make sure sedation is safe for you. If you’re not sure, just ask.
What do I need to do afterward, and can I drive back to Manor?

No. If you’ve had sedation, arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home and stay with you as needed. Rest, avoid alcohol, and don’t drive or use machinery until the effects have fully worn off. We’ll give you clear instructions before you leave.
